The Friends of the Rice Public Library is a non-profit 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the library's programs, resources, and services through financial donations and volunteer support.

Who We Are and What We Do!

For over 30 years, the Friends of the Rice Public Library have been advocating for and supporting our town library. The Friends educate the community about the needs of the Library and have been stalwart advocates for a permanent Library building.

Friends also raise funds to supplement the library budget. Some Friends are active members year round, while others choose to serve on a committee, volunteer at the Library, or participate at specific events.

Friends currently:

-Deliver books to Meetinghouse Village and Kittery Estates.
-Volunteer at Family movie night and story time events at Kittery Estates.
-Organize events with speakers.
-Schedule fund raising events (raffles, silent auctions, Community Suppers, etc.).

The Friends currently raise funds for the following Library services:

-Membership passes to 11 museums
-Children's Summer Reading Program
-Large Print books
-Subscription to Bookpage, a 32-page monthly book subscription

New Friends are always welcome. If you'd like to work with a great group of people and help support your public library, you too can join the Friends.  To download a membership form click here.
