Your kind donations allow us to acquire and present resources to the whole community.
Book Donations
*We gladly accept one tote of books at a time.
*Books that are like new and less than ten years old are most useful to us. Books in poor condition cannot be processed.
*Magazines and textbooks cannot be processed, please check with other organizations to donate these materials.
*Please bring your donations to a library associate. Materials left at the door get damaged by the weather (sun, rain, snow etc.) and cannot be accepted.
*If items are not satisfactory, we will, sadly, have to dispose of them due to limited space. So please help us by making sure an associate can look through your donations.
Other Donations
*Monetary donations are sincerely appreciated. Checks made out to The Rice Public Library are the best form of giving. You may specify a specific area to benefit from your contribution, such as books, children’s programs, etc., or let us apply it to the area with greatest need. The Rice Public Library is a 509 (a) (1) nonprofit organization and all monetary donations, bequests, etc., are tax-deductable under the provisions of the IRS code 501 (c) (3).
*DVD donations are typically added to the collection, and deeply appreciated.
*Any other donation of materials, museum passes, etc. are best handled through contacting our Director at (207) 439-1553.
Again, we thank you for all of your support over the years and for making our Library what it is today!
Volunteering
*Donating your time is a great way to help us! If you are interested in assisting by spending a few hours shelving books, helping with a program, general office work, etc. – let us know! Some of our supporters contribute a couple of hours a month; others join us for up to 8 hours a week. We welcome whatever time you can share. Please pick up a “Volunteer Application” form at either building.
